Summer Theatre Workshop 2018 Staff
Cassandra Blaich (Director and Choreographer): Cassie has been with the CYC Summer Theatre Workshop as Director, Assistant Director, Stage Manager, Choreographer, and Director for several years. She studied dance with Sharon Sena for 16 years at "Joy of Movement". Acting roles include "Cobweb" in A 1920s Midsummer Night's Dream, "Veruca Salt" in Willy Wonka Jr, "Grace" and "Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. In addition to her onstage roles, she has helped extensively with set painting, costumes, choreography, stage management, and wherever help is needed. In last summer's production of the CYC production of It's Up To You, New York, New York in addition to her acting role as "Suzy Sanchez", she worked as Assistant Director and Choreographer, and Directed last summer's production of Disney Lion King Jr. She is very excited to be directing this summer's production of Disney Little Mermaid Jr.
Jonathan Granger (Music Director): Jonathan is the elementary band director at Hadley-Luzerne CSD and has been Musical Director/Accompanist for over 20 productions. Some notable productions he has musically directed include: Anything Goes, Little Shop of Horrors, bare: A Pop Opera, RENT, Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr., and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. At age eight, Jonathan started piano lessons and continued his training for two decades. Jonathan has earned four platinum and two gold rankings with his choruses over three years in the "Great East Festival" and his Select Chorus was chosen to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2014. He is actively involved in the local community through the choral group "Adirondack Voices," the Glens Falls Lions Club, and promoting advocacy for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Maya Puchkoff-Van Gelder (Puppet Artist & Designer): Maya teaches art at Hadley-Luzerne School and her sculptural artwork has been exhibited in several galleries in NYC and Saratoga Springs, NY. She is a graduate of Fordham University, Graduate School of Education; Kansas City Art Institute; and the La Guardia High School for Music and Art and the Performing Arts, NYC. Her exhibition and performance credits include puppetry work that has been used in conjunction with many theaters in NYC including the SoHo Repertory, the Here Arts Center, Lincoln Center Director's Lab, One Arm Red Theater, Pomegranate Puppet Theater, CSV Cultural Center, Rakka Thamm Theater, Los Kabayitos Puppet Theater, La Mama, Etc. Theater. In addition, her sculptural work was in Bergdorf-Goodman's 5th Avenue windows to accompany the evening wear of Yoghi Yamamoto. She is excited to be working with the CYC program this year.
Norman Mosher (Accompanist): Norm is Organist, Choir Director and Minister of Music at the First United Methodist Church in Corinth. He was piano accompanist for the 2009 STW production of Willy Wonka Jr., Annie Jr. (2010), Oliver! (2011), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2012), A 1920's Midsummer Night's Dream (2013), Once Upon a Mattress (2014), Alice in Wonderland (2015),It's Up to You! New York, New York (2016), and Disney The Lion King JR (2017). His original musical, Nudges, was produced in the Fall of 2014 to wide acclaim. He enjoys playing for his friends at the Saratoga Nursing Home, and has played with various local bands and in many shows, despite occasional bouts of common sense and better judgment.
Lauren Ogden (Artistic Director): Lauren is a theatre artist with experience in producing, directing, choreographing, costume design, set design, playwriting and performance. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College (SLC) with a BA in theatre and foreign languages. She attended the NYSSSA – Theatre Program (2009) and the Cambridge Theatre Conservatory (2008). At SLC she worked with Downstage Theater to produce, costume, and perform in multiple works, including Crimes of the Heart, Lady in the Dark, and The Children’s Hour. She has worked for the CYC Summer Theatre Workshop in Corinth, NY for six years, costuming and choreographing youth productions of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!, Annie Jr., and Once Upon a Mattress. She wrote and directed A 1920's Midsummer Night's Dream (an original musical adaptation of Shakespeare's work), Alice in Wonderland (an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll story), and wrote the original It's Up to You! New York, New York. Her play, Face the Music and Dance premiered at Confetti Fest 9 in October, 2013. She teaches theatre for the Saratoga Arts Theatre Camp in the summer. Her work, Paradisicle was selected and performed as a staged reading for Hubbard Hall's Winter Carnival in January 2015. She teaches Spanish and French to grades K-8 at St. Mary's St. Alphonsus School in Glens Falls and is continuing her work as a writer.
Kendra Schieber (Executive Producer and Grants Administrator): Kendra is a local artist and arts enthusiast. She has worked as program administrator for many years, each year successfully reapplying for multiple program grants. In the program's second year, she directed Willy Wonka Jr. Other directing credits include Southern Comforts, Noah's Ark, and Nudges. Among other things, she has been the set painter for our productions and for productions of Glens Falls Community Theatre. Kendra attended the Art Students League and is trained in calligraphy, lettering design, portraiture, drawing, and painting. She has also attended several workshops with Terry Rabine on Directing and Acting. Her self-made business,The Sign Studio, has given Corinth, the surrounding area, and areas of Bucks County, PA a collection of picturesque signs and logos for businesses, churches, and municipalities. She currently volunteers as Treasurer of the Corinth School CSEA and as Secretary/Treasurer of To the Himalayas With Love, Inc.
Student and Alumni Assistants
If you have recently been a part of the program in the past and you are 15 or older, you can apply for an alumni or student assistant position. Assistants may work as Assistant Directors, Assistant Stage Managers, Assistant Choreographers, Technical Assistants, etc. These positions may include a stipend and/or scholarship.
